what is happening?

Several months ago, my friend Caitlin St. James was diagnosed with meningioma. She had surgery and received radiation therapy afterward. Thank God she seems well now.
Just last night, I got an email from my best friend Lady Jazmin stating that he got diagnosed with colon cancer and will get surgery to remove it next week. He will get chemotherapy as well after the surgery.

What is happening? These are people my age and things like cancer are not something you expect from people in their late 30s to early 40s. These two events happening to my friends are shaking me up to my very core. It reminds me of my own frailty. It reminds me that I am not young anymore. It reminds me of my mortality. It reminds me that I should live life to the fullest every day cause who knows, I could be diagnosed with cancer anytime now.

I hate her! Maybe just a little...

I have always not liked Sasha Cohen. I have the impression that she is arrogant and full of herself. So as my way of showing my vexation for her, I post these two funny videos.

why bother?

Clay Aiken of American Idol season 1 recently came out as a gay man. This brings me to beg the question, why bother? It is not as if the anybody with wit did not know already that he is gay. It is not as if this move will gain more approval and support from the gay community. He has vehemently denied being gay for years that I personally don't care that he came out. Well, now we can say Kathy Griffin was justified in calling him Clay Gaiken!

who likes a cabbie?

We the public have a love and hate relationship with a cabbie/taxi. We appreciate them when we desperately need one and we hate them when they do all these annoying driving habits. And I think I understand why a cabbie drives that way. With all these annoying things one encounters during traffic, I could see why a cabbie would be so jaded to the point that they do not care anymore if they annoy others. They develop a "to each his own" attitude. "I am going to cut you off cause I have been cut off many times." "I am going to stop in the middle of the road to pick up a ride cause I do not care about you" The more these cabbies do these annoying things, the more we hate them and reciprocate the same bad driving attitude to them. We end up cutting them off. We end up being rude to them. And the more they do the same. So you see, it has become a vicious cycle. And there is no end to it, unless u live in "pleasantville". sigh.

If there's a smoke, there's a fire.

More controversy surrounds the Chinese "girls" Olympic team. I am telling you, I am so convinced that several of them were not 16 during the games. I firmly stand by my claims about the girls in my Olympic blog. The investigation is still ongoing and I hope the truth will prevail. Zulu from Star Trek, played by George Takei, is my friend. He is in my friendslist in myspace. yeehay! He is a positive role model for Gay Asian Male like me.

Congrats George

George Takei married his 21 year partner Brad Altman in California. Good for them I say. May they live long and prosper. The happy couple were joined by George's star trek co-star Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig. One thing I noticed was how young looking Brad. Well Brad in 54 and George is 71. Did not know George likes the youngins. haha Good for him! I once dated younger but I was not as fortunate as George is. For more of the news, click HERE.

Pet Peeve - vehicles who don't stay in their lane

Look at this stupid cab in the middle of a two lane street. In many instance if there is an incoming vehicle, he can not fit on the left cause the cab is in the middle. The cab should be staying on the right side since this is a two lane road and not even a one way street.

Animal hybrids

I am not yet over the win of Serena so I feel like posting this Oreo commercial of Venus, Serena, Eli Manning and Peyton Manning. I am not into american football but I do think the Manning brothers are deliz.

US Open 2008

The final results of this years US Open was very favorable. Serena and Roger got their groove back. Serena won her 9th slam title and regained Number 1 rank while Roger proved to the nay sayers that he is not just yet going out. Nadal may still be Number 1 but he can not beat Roger's consistency and prowess in all 4 slam surfaces. Nadal lost in the semifinals to Andy Murray proving my point that he is only unbeatable in clay and very good in grass. While Roger has in the past 4 years or so consistently (almost) reached the finals in all four surfaces.

It was sad to see Andy Roddick lost to that odious Djokovic in the Quarterfinals but very gratifying to get Djokovic beaten by Federer in the Semifinals. Sad that Venus had to bow down to Serena in the Quarterfinals when judging from the way she plays, she could have been in the finals with Serena. I was sad to see Mardy Fish exit in the Quarterfinals against Nadal but all in all, Fish have had a great run in this years US Open. Go Fish! Perhaps I should join Fish supporters called the "fish tank".
I was also very happy to see the Bryan brothers take the Men's double trophy. I am smiling...

The Ugly Serbian

I use to like Novak Djokovic when he was just emerging in the professional tennis scene. I use to find his mimicking of the on court mannerisms of other players amusing. But the more I read stuff about him, the more I dislike him. Unlike Nadal who is all humble about beating Federer, Djokovic has been vocal in saying that he can threaten Federer's status as the top rank. Such arrogance!

In one of the the interview of Roddick, he was asked about what he thinks of the many "ailments" that seem to plague Djokovic during a match. Djokovic is notorious for often calling the trainer for cramps, stomach ache, breathing problems etc. during a match. Roddick joked by adding more ailments like SARS, bird flu etc. He later just dismissed it as it is. This evidently enraged Djokovic because he had an outburst about it during an on court interview after winning his match against Roddick. The crowd was booing him loudly but he has to have the last word.

Djokovic is turning out to be the "ugly" Serbian. Not literally ugly in his appearance but ugly in character and behaviour. If he can joke about the on court mannerisms of other players by mimicking them, why can't Roddick joke about his "ailments"?

Hence the companies out there are trying to lure more business by promoting themselves are environmentally friendly.
