For centuries, women were on the loosing end of double standard when it comes to covering body parts. Even to these days, some women in some part of the world have to cover their whole body while men are allowed to expose their arm, head, neck and legs. Often times the double standard comes from societal standard on what is considered acceptable. Any body can expose certain body parts in public as long as it does not violate any law on public indecency but society frowns on these behavior. So most of us conform to what society expects and cover up certain body parts.
In recent years, I have noticed a double standard that favors the women when it comes to covering body parts. And this double standard exist only in the modern urban gym. I am talking about women wearing a sport work out bra like top with their midsection exposed. Somehow it is considered acceptable for women to do this but gym management might protest if men expose their midsection during a workout. Somehow society deems it acceptable for women to wear bra during a work out but men have to cover their whole trunk.
Also, some bars will allow women to enter with sleeveless tops while men have to have sleeves. Somehow a sleeveless man is considered uncouth while a sleeveless woman is not.
