The outfit of Halloween's past

This is a rare occasion that I will grace my blog with a photograph of myself. And since Halloween is one of my favorite holiday, I made an exception and posted this photo of myself dressed as a cat tree from last years Halloween. I was a hit at the bars that night. :-) Goodness, time flies. Happy Halloween everybody!

Louvre - the building

Considering that the Louvre museum used to be the palace of the French Monarch, I did not expect it to be any less magnificent and opulent than the artwork it houses today. Here are just some photographs of the Louvre itself which by itself is an artwork.

V for votiki

I am so loving ABC for resurrecting this old TV show. I remember watching V when I was in high school. I remember a few things about the old series. That the aleins were reptilian hiding behind a human face. That one of the major alien character was Diana. That the alien ate mice. Since the alien were reptilian, my cousins and I would coin V for votiki which in Filipino botiki means lizards. Can't wait for it this November 3, 2009.

The betrayal

In the Philippines, there is no divorce. So my parents who were separated remained married till the passing of my father. As part of the settlement my mom entered with my father for not slapping him with adultery/bigamy/concubinage charges, he was to transfer the farm and commercial lot in the city to my brother's and my name. Mom was afraid that my dad was going to give his properties to his other woman and his other children.

This recent visit of my mom revealed some information that struck a chord of betrayal from my father. I learned that prior to my dad's untimely passing, he was trying to sell the farm and the commercial lot in the city so he can finance his immigration plan to Canada with his other woman and their children. Fortunately he was unable to sell the properties otherwise my brothers and I would be left with nothing now. It is not like I am depending a lot on these inheritance nowadays cause I am financially stable, but the thought that he was willing to hang me dry with nothing upon his passing was very hurtful to take. Was I really that unimportant to him? Perhaps I should just comfort myself with the idea or delusion that somehow he will leave me with something if those properties that was suppose to go to me was unavailable anymore. I would never know the truth now but I can just believe that I still mattered to my dad to the day of his untimely demised.

jet lagged movie

It is 6 am on a Saturday. My biorhythm is all screwed up. Still jet lagged from my trip to Europe. So what do I do when I can not sleep? Watch my net flick movie "confession of a shopaholic".

I am so certifiably gay. I loved this chick flick. Pretty girl gets the handsome guy with an english accent. Happy ending at the same time swelled up tears on my eyes. Perfect feel good movie and does not require much thinking. I hate those indie films that needed a PhD in psychology to understand. Give me my hollywood formula and this movie delivered.

Catch 22 Miracle

Loads of catholic/christian pilgrims flock to Lourdes France for the miraculous holy water. Indeed there were many unexplained miraculous healing but there were also many unhealed cases.

I was at Lourdes last week. I have heard of my friend saying that when her parents went and bath at the Lourdes water, they got out of the water almost instantaneously dried. Being a skeptic that I am, I challenged my friend to try it on myself. I was going to bath in the Lourdes water and see for myself if I get out of the water dried instantaneously and miraculously. But she told me that it will not happen to me since I do not BELIEVE. So if I believe, it will happen and if I don't believe, it won't happen. That is where the catch 22 comes in. Who is to say that a fervent believer really got out of the water dried instantaneously or it is fanaticism at work? Couldn't the mind of a fanatic believer fool the person into believing that he/she really got out of the water dried instantaneously? And the non believer of course, who keeps an objective mind, will experience normal logical drying time after coming out of the water. Since, it was so cold that day when I was at the Lourdes, I did not bother to test the miraculous instantaneous drying. My mother on the other hand did it all. And she really believed in the miracles of the Lourdes. Upon arrival at Lourdes, she immediately wet her head to heal her calcified brain tumor. She drank loads of the miraculous water to heal her ailments and aches. She touched the rocks surrounding the grotto as millions did in the past in hopes of a miracle. And she even bath in the water to alleviate her sore sprained ankle. So when I asked her if she felt dry instantaneously after coming out of the water, she said not really. And she was still limping after bathing and drinking Lourdes water. So was it really miraculous water? What do you think?
