Happy Halloween

Everybody have a safe and funfilled Halloween. For more information of the celebration of All Hallows' Eve, click HERE.

And the day after Halloween is All Saints Day. That is the more popular Holiday in the Philippines where I grew up. Every All Saint's Day, we flock to the cemetery to remember our deceased love ones. We bring food and candles to the mausoleum of our deceased relations and get to see our cousins, uncles and aunts. It is time for a reunion.

costumes of Halloween past

I love Halloween and I always dress up for it. I sometimes go to parties or the clubs for it. Here are the list of costumes I have come up with for Halloween in no particular order.

1. Farmer Jon - denim overall, straw hat, plaid long sleeve and work boots.
2. Snorkeling Jon - wet suit, snorkeling goggle, snorkel, swimming shoes.
3. Gondolier Jon - Venetian gondolier hat, venetian gondolier shirt, black pants and an oar.
4. Bram Stoker Dracula - not the Bela Legosi stereotype of Count Dracula. But more the Bram Stoker Dracula movie with Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves and Gary Oldman. Long Top hat, blue round spectacle, long hair, dark wool coat and gentleman's cane.
5. Zorro - black button down long sleeves shirt, black dress pants, zorro hat, fake fencing sword, black boots, black eye mask, fake mustache, black leather glooves and black cape.
6. Ninja - Black hooded shirt, black pants, black handkerchief for the mouth, ninja toy weapon or sword, black knit gloves and black boots. Pants tucked into the boots.
7. Navy man - my brothers old authentic navy uniform.
8. Regency era english lady. Empire cut dress, wig, feathers and flowers on hair, long white gloves, white flat lady shoe, pearls and loads of make up.
9. Army man - jungle camouflage top, pants and hat, fake rifle, black boots.
10. Kung Fu fighting Jon - traditional chinese top and bottom, black chinese shoes, chinese cap with fake braided hair hanging behind it, big chinese fan for fighting.
11. Gogo girl - white boots, pink wig, big white beads, bracelet and loops, fringe layered miniskirts dress and even more make up.
12. Surgeon - scrubs with mask and cap. This is the lamest of all I have done.
13. Miami Vice Don Johnson - White pants, colored T and a jacket.

And for this year, I will be a cat tree!

Lady Jazmin is out of the woods

After spending a day with my friend Jazmin, I am confident to say that he is out of the woods. He had colon resection for a cancer on his transverse colon just 11 days ago. We went to see his surgeon at Northwestern Hospital and then walked around Andersonville. Had some cake at a pastry shop and went shopping a bit. Jazmin is walking about, and back to his old self. The HO, my HO sister, is back!

Jon's Sarcasm 5

- There is no real friendship between 2 selfish people.

- There is a fine line between 2 friends sharing a common interest and one friend being user friendly to another because of that shared interest.

- Trimming or shaving a man's armpit is not girly, it is hygienic. Long pit hair breeds bacteria that causes B.O.

- The argument between sexes over the position of the toilet seat really has an undertone of who is in control. Cause if you come to think about it, the seat position can always be changed according to each sex's preferential need and there is no need that it has to "stay" in one position.

Overkill - fake cobwebs

This has got to be one of the worst idea for Halloween decoration that took off cause I see a significant amount of homes doing it. And I am referring to the fake cobwebs that the home owners put on their shrubs, stairs, porch or fence. And the colored ones are even worse. To begin with, these cobwebs does not look natural and putting them in front of a clean, non hunted looking house is so fake. Why can't they just stick to a lighted carved pumpkins or some orange halloween lights? Or even a fake tombstone in the yard is load better looking. I say it is overkill on the Halloween decoration! Here are some examples I took from my camera phone while biking or driving by.

Jon's Sarcasm part 4

- Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me trice, I must be desperate.

- Mom says children are your guarantee for old age retirement. I say children can be like your IRA/mutual funds, they are just as unpredictable like the stock market.

- You know you are truly over somebody when you genuinely have no interest and time to care if he gained/lost weight, gone bald or won the lotto.

- You belong to a cult if you have to give a specified percentage of your income on a regular basis in order to save your "soul" from eternal damnation.

- The day will come when an Ageist will taste his own medicine, but how about a racist? Perhaps they need to be sent into prison with a bunch of ageist when they get old.

Pet Peeve - Dunkin coffee addicts

A lot of my pet peeve have to do with driving. It is a wonder why I still drive. It is about the lesser of two evils I suppose. Here is another pet peeve that I have from driving and traffic. Every morning as I drive by the Dunkin doughnut along Ashland Avenue, there is a line of cars waiting to get coffee at the drive through. And more often than not, the line extends all the way on the right lane of the southbound Ashland Avenue creating traffic. Not in my picture above but it usually does. How annoying! Why can't these coffee addicts take their coffee at home?

What more can I say?

You asked me once sometime ago
The reason for my loving you
And wanting you more and more
You know that I still love you
But should I let things be
'Cause saying that there's someone new
Is much too much for me

How long has this been going on?
How long has it been since he held you in his arms?
Now what are you trying to tell me
What made you feel this way
I'd rather you say it out to me
Than hurt me this way

'Cause I close my eyes
Thinkin' of ways to make you realize
How hard it is for me to see you go

What more can I say
You're going away this time for real
Now who is to blame
Is it you, is it me
Is it right for him to steal you
Steal you away
You've always been my darling
You know I want you to stay

This time tomorrow you'll be gone
It's hard to believe we got to end
What's hardly just begun

Tell me that this is not
What it seems to be
Just hold me tight and say I'm dreaming
'Cause I can't believe you're leavin' me behind
Don't let the pain disguise the fire

I like to hold you and love you tonight
I like to feel you and make things right
You know I love you
I wanna feel you
I wanna touch you and make things right

Gay.com Screennames

Hungry4Jock - hhmmm, I am famish today I could eat a horse. But wait, I think I will have a jock instead. They taste just like chicken.

Scott33m - Kind of misleading cause this Scott is actually 39 now.

UWS28boy - When was 28 ever still a boy? And I bet he is not 28 now.

Abercrombieeboi - Not even half of these people with names relating to abercrombie and fitch look anything like A&F models. Talk about delusion.

AnFgapguy78 - Another guy trying to be Abercrombie and Fitch. But this time he has an identity crisis. Does he want to look like A&F model or gap model?

UWMsTuDeNt78 - nOw ThIs Is JuSt AnNoYiNg.

Absolutely Not!

Sang by Deborah Cox

Always waitin' for someone To make me happy, pick me up I realize that someone is me What you call life, that ain't livin' Bless the child that's got his own It's my season, now I stand alone Just thought that I would let you know Some things you just can't control
[Chorus:]
Should I wear my hair in a ponytail? Should I dress myself up in chanel? Do I measure me by what you think? Absolutely not, absolutely not If I go to work in a mini-skirt Am I givin' you the right to flirt? I won't compromise my point of view Absolutely not, absolutely not Told myself I won't complain But some things have got to change Not gon' be a victim of All your social push and shove Right or wrong, you judge the same My picture never fit your frame What you thought, you'll never know You can't see me with your mind closed
[Repeat Chorus]
Now I see, life means more to me More than fancy clothes More than you'll ever know All the ugly words that I heard you say Made me stronger everyday Now I live my life for me
[Repeat Chorus 3x]
Oh, ooh Woah, oh, ooh All my ladies say Oh, ooh Woah, oh, ooh Absolutely not, absolutely not All my ladies say Oh, ooh Woah, oh, ooh All my ladies say Absolutely not, absolutely not.

Overkill - religious zealot

It can be any religion but I have known several Christians who would not let their children read "Harry Potter" or dress up for Halloween. For them, Harry Potter is bad cause it is about witchcraft. Perhaps they should read the book cause if they did, they would know that Harry Potter is really about the triumph of love, friendship and courage over evil and wickedness. And what is this about Halloween being a celebration of Devil worship? Halloween may have the occult history attached to it but for the most of us, it is just about dressing up and getting candy. It is just an excuse to indulge on your fantasy as being somebody else or something else that you are not normally. It is all harmless fun for the most part.

So it is really OVERKILL for some of these religious zealot to think this way. Come on, live a little and be normal. Don't be a weirdo.

Something to look forward to during winter.

I am not talking about skiing or snow. Definitely not about winter driving. What I am looking forward to is figure skating season. Excited to see what the skaters will dazzle me this season. Here are two clips on figure skating to really get me in the mood.

Sunset Boulevard

I also posted these 4 versions of the song Sunset Boulevard at Stagenote. They are from John Barrowman, Hugh Jackman, Michael Ball and this guy from Istambul named Ediz Bahar. Which one I think sang the best? (Michael Ball) Which one is the most handsome for me? (Ediz) Which one would I prefer to see in Sunset Boulevard the muscial? (Hugh Jackman) Who would I take home to meet mom? (John Barrowman)

I learned from the best.

Did you really think that
I would really take you back
Let you back in my heart
One more time, oh, no no

Did you think I’d still care
That there’d be more feeling there
Did you think you could walk back
In my life, oh

So you found you missed the love you threw away
Baby, but you found it out too late, too late

And so you know the way it feels to cry
The way that I cried when you broke my world in two
And baby I learned the way to break a heart
I learned from the best, I learned from you
oh baby, now, I learned from you

I remember cold nights
Tears I thought would never dry
How you shattered my world
With your goodbye, your goodbye

Would've sold my soul then
Just to have you back again
Now you are the last thing on my mind

Now you say you’re sorry and you’ve
Changed your ways
Sorry but you changed your ways too late

So when all you’ve got are sleepless night
When those tears are clouding up your eyes
Just remember it was you
Who said goodbye, who said goodbye

I learned from the best
I learn from you

(sang by Whitney Houston)

Oh a prison shower scene!

Just watch it...

Coping mechanisms

There are many ways I have seen/experienced people cope with loneliness, rejection, lost, depression or low self esteem. Some are pretty positive and healthy, some are destructive while some are just amusing. Here are some of these coping mechanisms.

- Over eating or eating unhealthy food. Chocolate, burgers and pork rinds.
- Having anonymous pity sex with people beneath you. These are people you normally would not considered having sex with. You are at least a 7 and this person is no more than a 4. And you end up feeling worse after doing it.
- Being obsessed with certain actor or public figure. You just want to know everything about Queen Latifa. You make a fanpage or blog for her. You join the fanclub. You buy her T-shirt, cap, CD and mug. You travel miles just to see her show.
- Being obsessed with certain hobby like collecting coins. You just got to have that certain coin to complete your collection. You scour craigslist and ebay all night long for that coin.
- Getting a pet and being obsessed with it. Your life now revolves around your dog. "I can't go to the movie cause I don't want to leave Fido alone". You dress Fido with doggie outfit and sunglasses.
- Killing yourself. That's very bad.
- Joining some religious group or cult. Now you are all about buddhism and chanting. All your new friends are buddist. Or you are now a strict kabbalist, diet and kabbala bracelet included. Or worse, you are now a jihadist muslim. Kill the infidels.
- Being obsessed with a skill like tap dancing or piano playing. You perform for your friends. You tape yourself in youtube.
- Take up a bad habit or drugs. You are now a meth addict and you even have a home lab to make meth. You go to the rave and circuit parties every weekend high on meth and coke and E.
- Start gambling. You go every weekend to Joliet to go to the river boat casinos. You go to Vegas and end up being thousands of dollars in debt.
- Shopping beyond your means. You buy Diesel or Energy designer jeans on credit card. You buy Manolo and Jimmy Choo shoes on credit. The problem with this, credit makes it seems you can afford these when you can't in reality.
- Being obsessed with your friends or family. You just got to hang out every weekend with Jane. You call her every night just to chat. She needs a break from you for God's sake!
- You go online every night for hours to watch x-tube or find that next hook up in manhunt.

What's your coping mechanism?

Gay blogs

Besides my recent discovery of a Gay Sports Blog, I also stumbled on a Gay TV Blog, Gay Music Blog and Gay Travel Blog. Gosh, I am so gay. Well I am and proud of it too. Enjoy reading...

Gay Sports Blog

Gay men and sports does not seem to go hand in hand for the most part. The lesbians are a totally different creature when it comes to sports that I am no authority on. Traditional popular sports like American football, baseball and basketball are associated mostly with the hetero male. Some sports though are more at home with the gay men folks like figure skating and gymnastics. I myself like figure skating. But on top of that, I also like tennis, badminton and volleyball. So I was very pleased to discover a sports blog with focus on gay issues and sensibilities. It has topics ranging from the figure skating to baseball to golf. I just like to share it here. Enjoy reading it!

Weakness of Character.

I knew this guy Tony in Chicago who told me that he and his long distance BF were so made for each other despite the distance. They met each other's family and friends. He was practically raving about his BF. Tony had this "friend" Steve in Chicago but since Tony was in a "Good" long distance relationship, he was not pursuing anything but friendship with Steve. Then came a time when Steve had this first date with another guy Jason. Once Tony heard of this date, he felt threatened and feared he will loose Steve to Jason so he broke it off with his long distance BF and pursued a romantic relationship with Steve. Tony and Steve are now together.

I had a drink with a friend Frank once who told me that his monogamous BF Noel is the best BF he has ever had. Everything including sex with Noel is just perfect. Frank is a man in LOVE. Later that night, we met a common acquaintance Marvin who was with his friend Andrew. The physical attraction between Frank and Andrew was evident to me as the evening progress. They were so chatty and flirty with each other as more alcohol was consumed. I later left them. A few weeks later, I heard from Marvin that Frank and Andrew hooked up/went home together. Up to this point, Frank is still with his BF Noel.

These are two incidences that showed me how weak in character some gay guys are. Tony was raving about his long distance ex-BF but it was all talk. He wanted to have Steve on the side as a "friend" while he was dating this long distance BF. He totally bailed on his long distance BF the moment he could lose Steve as his back up. He wanted his cake and eat it too. And as for Frank, he showed a weakness of character by sleeping with Andrew despite of having a good relationship with Noel. If Frank told me that he and Noel were having relationship/sex problems, I would have understood what he did. But he was in a good relationship so why risk it over a one night stand? From my point of view, Frank practically grabbed the first opportunity of sleeping with a guy he finds attractive. He did not have enough restraint in the face of temptation.

I am not a perfect individual and I have my own weaknesses. But those two examples above are what I strive not to be. I strive to be more consistence in what I say and what I do. I strive to do the right thing despite the temptations in front of me. Consistency and restraint are the two lessons to be learned here.

Jon's sarcasm part 3

- When the fresh water well is dry, desalinize saltwater.

- Inner beauty for some gay guys is the size of what is inside a man's pants.

- If there is a Karma, we won't need prison.

- If there is a Karma, it does not just happen. You make it happen.
