The hunky Bachelor

I have always thought that shows like The Bachelor or The Bachelorette are senseless and devoid of intellectual reward. The contestants rely on scheming, conniving and sexual favors to get ahead. But I must admit a lot of those contestants are pretty pleasing to the eye. And for this upcoming The Bachelor, Jake Pavelka is one hunky man. Very cute smile with a delicious body to match. Someone a woman or gay man would proudly bring back home to meet mom.

Happy Christmas!

One thing I love about Christmas are the Christmas Trees. They are so colorful and festive. I just love emersing myself at the beauty of the different trees at work, store window, mall, hotels, airports and at night through the windows of houses. Here are some camera phone photos of Christmas trees I came across.
I hope everybody have a most happy Christmas!

Gay happy meetings

It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"
It's the most wonderful time of the year
It's the hap-happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It's the hap- happiest season of all

There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago

It's the most wonderful time of the year
There'll be much mistltoeing
And hearts will be glowing
When love ones are near
It's the most wonderful time of the year

Mark Walhberg talks to Christmas animals

Not nearly as funny as the Mark Walhberg talks to animal but still good for a few laughs. Plus it is in line with the season.

Northeastern Asian Actors

I have seen many young northeast Asian guys(tourists or residents) here in the USA sporting longish hair. And I have always wondered why there are so many of them sporting that kind of hair. Evidently they emulate it from the pop idols popular in their country of origin. I perfectly do not see the beauty of these longish hair. Give me that clean cut hair anytime. I was born and raised in the Philippines and long hair was not the popular thing there for actors. Somehow in northeast Asia, it is. Here are some random photos of actors, singers and/or models from Korea, Japan and Taiwan I got from asian-actors.blogspot.com. If you check that blog, you will see more north Asian actors with long hair. Odd...

The Young Victoria

This past weekend, I saw "The Young Victoria". I know this was going to be about Queen Victoria so I was psyched at the idea of watching another period film with authentic English accent.

And the movie did not disappoint at all. Emily Blunt portrayed a Victoria that I can relate to as a person. She was able to draw me into her character and feel the anguish, elation, confusion, anger, love, passion, etc. that her character felt. And Rupert Friend who portrayed Prince Albert was also very worthy of the role. I can feel the love and yearning in his eyes and expressions. And what fine eyes and expressions they were. Very handsome man that was princely in every way.

It was very interesting to see the historical aspect of the movie. How every royalty/nobility and/or politicians were trying to influence Victoria to their favor. Even Prince Albert was maneuvered by his uncle King Leopold I of Belgium to marry Victoria. Here no unwanted maneuvering was necessary for Prince Albert was really in love with Victoria. And Victoria was also in love with her cousin Prince Albert. The tender moments of their love moved me to tears. It was so real and it made it painful for me to watch them so in love because I know that Prince Albert's untimely passing away will eventually leave one broken heart Queen.

The costumes were stunning and very true to the era. The sets and sceneries made me feel I was truly in the 19th century Europe. The other cast members all delivered superb portrayal of Royals, Nobles and Politicians. These included Paul Bettany (Lord Melbourne, Silas in Da Vinci Code), Miranda Richardson (Duchess of Kent, Victoria's mother), Jim Broadbent (King William, Prof. Slughorn in Harry Potter) and Harriet Walter (Queen Adelaide, Franny Dashwood in Sence & Sensibility) among a few to mention. Indeed it was a stellar group of fine actors.

I have truly nothing to grumble about this movie. Kudos to the director, producers, writers, designers, editors and actors involved in this magnificent work. A true 5 star out of 5 in my book. Can't wait for the DVD to come out for I have to have a copy!

Don we now our gay apparel!

Deck the halls with boughs of holly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Don we now our gay apparel,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Troll the ancient Yule tide carol,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

See the blazing Yule before us,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Strike the harp and join the chorus.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Follow me in merry measure,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
While I tell of Yule tide treasure,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Fast away the old year passes,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Hail the new, ye lads and lasses,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Sing we joyous, all together,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Heedless of the wind and weather,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

A camp for children whose crime was being born

Here is a clip from Miss Saigon of Peter Polycarpou singing "Bui Doi". This song always make my hair stand because of the powerful moving voice of Peter and of course my heart aches for those poor bui doi.

They're called Bui-Doi
The Dust of life
Conceived in hell
And born is strife
They are the the living reminders
Of all the good we failed to do
We can't forget
Must not forget
That they are all
Our children too

Like all survivors, I once thought
When I'm home I won't give a damn
But now I know I'm caught
I'll never leave Vietnam

War isn't over when it ends
Some pictures never leave you mind
They are the faces of the children
The ones we left behind

They're called Bui-Doi
The dust of life
Conceived in hell
And born in strife
They are the living reminders
Of all the good we failed to do
We can't forget
Must not forget
That they are all
Our children too

These kids hit walls on every side
They don't belong in any place
Their secret they can't hide
Its printed on their face

I never thought I'd plead
For half-breeds from a land that's torn
But then I saw a camp for children
Whose crime was being born

They're called Bui-Doi
The dust of life
Conceived in hell
And born in strife
We owe them fathers, and a family -
And loving home they never knew
Because we know
Deep in our hearts
That they are all
Our children too

These are souls in need
They need us to give
Someone has to pay
For their chance to life
Help me try

They're called Bui-Doi
The dust of life
Conceived in hell
And born in strife
They are the living reminders
Of all the good we failed to do
That's why we know
Deep in our hearts
That they are all
Our children too

Two and a half men

In this episode (Just like Buffalo) of Two and a half men, Jake (the kid) heard his uncle Charlie say that he does need a wife when he has someone to have sex with and another to clean and shop for him. That way he does not have to give half of what he owns to his wife. Jake emulates his uncle and says this same sentiments in front of his mom and her female support group. When Alan came to pick up Jake the next day, Judith and her support group proceed to bully Alan because of their displeasure on what Jake learns when he is with his uncle Charlie. I am somewhat perturbed by this. They show Alan to be this sissy ex-husband who is allowing his ex-wife Judith and her friends to bully him. Granting that Judith has good reasons to be upset at the bad sexist influence her ex-brother in law has on her son but the bottom line is it is not Alan's fault and bullying is not the right way to do it. OK OK you say it is a sitcom but is it sending the right message? Since women have been unfairly treated by men in the western culture for centuries, is showing men being unfairly treated by women acceptable? We are suppose to strive for equality between the sexes and not the reversal of dominance. And for God's sake, Alan should get some balls and stand up to his ex-wife and her bitter friends.

I did not find the situation funny at all. I rather hate it when sitcom thinks it is funny to have domineering female bullies a timid male. That is just my take on it.
