Barbaric contact sports

I have zero fascination for contact sports.   Many contact sports specially combat sports like boxing or that ultimate fighter match are barbaric.  It harkens to the days of the gladiators where the crowd cheers and boos at warriors trying to kill/harm each other.  Less violent contact sports like hockey and football are also uncivilized.  For hockey, the crowd is often energized by any brawl or fight that happens between players.  In football, the tackling of the one carrying the ball is one of the highlight of the game.  All of these contact sports are not only barbaric but are also harmful to the players.   Almost all of these players will eventually develop CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy).  Modern science/medicine have proven direct correlation between the repeated trauma to the head sustained by these players to the highly pathological post-mortem brain autopsy of the dead players who suffered neurological symptoms before their death.  As long as society continues to glorify these athletes and the sport itself, these savage sports will flourish despite of the overwhelming evidence that it is harmful to the players.  If it were up to me, these sports should be outlawed.  Of course I can't do anything about it.  If players want to slowly destroy their body, it is their prerogative.  I have no pity seeing them unable to walk properly or drooling because of the neurological symptoms they suffer.  I sure did not with Mohammed Ali.  Actions have consequences so live with it.
